Who doesn’t love a good pumpkin scone? Especially on a nice cool Sunday morning in the middle of fall, and of course it HAS to be a pumpkin scone! These pumpkin scones are light and fluffy with the perfect balance of autumn spices, but the sweet spiced glaze is what really pulls it all together. Pumpkin scones are the perfect pastry to grab with your hot morning drink for a perfectly pumpkin spiced breakfast.
Better than Starbucks
This easy and delicious pumpkin scone recipe will leave you with sweet and flakey scones packed with fall flavors. These are 10x better than any pumpkin pastry you can get from Starbucks. Sure you can pop through the drive through and grab a quick pastry with your coffee but where’s the love in that? There’s nothing like biting into a freshly baked, fluffy, pumpkin scone!
Ingredients you’ll need for Pumpkin Oats Scone
Pumpkin Oats Scone
- Flour
- Rolled Oats
- Dark Brown Sugar
- Baking Powder
- Cinnamon
- Ginger
- Clove
- Nutmeg
- Salt
- Unsalted Butter (Cold)
- Maple Syrup
- Vanilla Extract
- Egg
- Heavy Cream
Spiced Glaze
- Powdered Sugar
- Heavy Cream
- Water
- Cinnamon
- Ginger
- Nutmeg
How to make Pumpkin Oats Scone
Pumpkin Oats Scone
- Preheat oven to 350
- Combine all dry ingredients
- Add butter pieces and work into the dry mixture
- In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together wet ingredients
- Pour wet ingredient mixture into the crumb mixture and stir gently until it all comes together
- Place the dough onto a well floured surface and split into two dough balls
- Flatten into about a 3/4 in thick circle and cut 8 equal wedges
- Transfer onto lined baking sheets and bake for 20-25 min
Spiced Glaze
- Whisk together all ingredients until well combined.
- Dip top of scones into the icing (twice)
- Let glaze set and enjoy!

Ingredients
Pumpkin Oats Scone
- 3 cups Flour
- 1/2 cups Rolled Oats
- 1/3 cup Dark Brown Sugar packed
- 2 tbsp Baking Powder
- 1/2 tsp Cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp Ground Ginger
- 1/4 tsp Ground Clove
- 1/4 tsp Salt
- 1 1/2 sticks Unsalted Butter cold and cubed
- 1/2 cup Pumpkin Puree
- 1/4 cup Maple Syrup
- 2 tsp Vanilla Extract
- 1 Egg
- 1 tbsp Heavy Cream
Spiced Glaze
- 2 cups Powederesd Sugar
- 1/4 cup Heavy Cream
- 2 tbsp Water
- 1/4 tsp Cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp Ground Ginger
- dash Nutmeg
Instructions
Pumpkin Oats Scone
- Preheat oven to 350
- In a large mixing bowl combine flour, oats, brown sugar, baking powder, all of the spices and combine
- Add butter pieces and work into the dry mixture using a pastry cutter or your hands. Should resemble coarse crumbs
- In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together pumpkin puree, maple syrup, vanilla extract, egg, and heavy cream
- Pour wet ingredient mixture into the crumb mixture and stir gently until it all comes together (will also work well with paddle attachment for standing mixer)
- Place the dough onto a well floured surface and split into two dough balls
- Flatten into about a 3/4 in thick circle and cut 8 equal wedges (should end up with 16 wedges for two dough balls)
- Transfer onto lined baking sheets and bake for 20-25 min (they shouldn't change in color too much)
- Allow to cool completely before icing
Spiced Glaze
- Whisk powdered sugar, heavy cream, water, spices and mix until well combined. If too thin add a tbs of powdered sugar at a time to thicken
- Dip the top of scones into the icing once and let the glaze firm on them for a few min then go and do a second coat
- Let the glaze set for a few min and enjoy!
